NPCIL connects RAPP-7 Unit to Northern Grid in Rajasthan

Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) has successfully connected Unit 7 of the 2×700 MW Rajasthan Atomic Power Project (RAPP) at Rawatbhata, Rajasthan, to the Northern Grid.

The unit was synchronised following the completion of all regulatory prerequisites, including compliance with Atomic Energy Regulatory Board norms. It will gradually ramp up to full power in accordance with regulatory clearances. RAPP-7 is the third reactor of the 700 MW indigenous pressurised heavy water reactor (PHWR) series, following the successful operation of KAPS-3 and KAPS-4 (2×700 MW) at Kakrapar, Gujarat. The twin unit, RAPP-8, is expected to be commissioned in 2025-26.
