Zambia’s Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC) has disclosed its plans to invest USD500 million over the next two years to boost its renewable production and upgrade its power transmission capacity to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The company operates the sole transmission link between the DRC and the Southern African Power Pool, and aims to attract external investors to support these initiatives. The implementation of these projects would more than double the transmission capacity between Zambia and DRC to 550 MW from the current 250 MW.
