Nigeria is strengthening its energy partnership with Egypt, focusing on enhancing power generation, transmission and electrification. The federal government has reaffirmed its dedication to expanding electricity access during a meeting between officials from Nigeria’s Ministry of Power and the Egyptian Ambassador to Nigeria. Discussions centred on leveraging Egypt’s expertise in power infrastructure and increasing renewable energy collaboration between the two nations. Nigeria has been making efforts to boost rural electrification through renewable energy projects, emphasising investments such as the USD750 million, World Bank-backed Distributed Access through Renewable Energy Scale-up (DARES) initiative and USD190 million from Japan International Cooperation Agency.
