SGCC’s subsidiary, State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company, has received approval for its 500 kV Zhongliangshan transformers with a capacity of 1,000 MVA each, and the construction of supporting infrastructure.
The latter includes a 500 kV outgoing line, a 35 kV capacitor bank with a reactive compensation capacity of 2×(3×60 MVAr), and a reactor bank of 2×(2×60 MVAr). The new 500 kV transmission line will begin at the new substation and terminate at the Wushiwan power plant switching station, with a total length of approximately 59 km. The project also includes the reconstruction of sections of the existing 500 kV Xu’an line. This entails modifications to Line A between sections number 49 and number 51, adding approximately 0.75 km of new line, as well as modifications to Line B between sections #54 and #56, also adding approximately 0.75 km of new line. This part of the project would also involve the dismantling of five existing towers (three on Line A and two on Line B) and the construction of new towers.
