India and Sri Lanka commences construction of first phase of Sampur solar power project

India and Sri Lanka have commenced construction of the first phase of the 120 MW Sampur Solar Power Project in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka.

The project’s initial phase will add 50 MW of solar capacity, with future expansion planned to reach 120 MW. The solar power plant is being developed as a 50:50 joint venture between NTPC Limited and the Ceylon Electricity Board.
