DVC signs PPA with SJVN to procure hydropower for green energy compliance

Reportedly, Damodar Valley Corporation Limited(DVC) has entered into power purchase agreements (PPAs) with SJVN Limited to source hydropower for meeting its green energy obligations and ensuring reliable power supply to consumers in West Bengal and Jharkhand.

Under the agreements, DVC will procure power from SJVN’s Sunni Dam and Luhri Stage-I Hydro Projects. The move is part of DVC’s broader strategy to diversify its energy mix, enhance grid stability, and meet 100 per cent of its future green energy obligations, including from solar and hydro sources.

The agreements follow five similar PPAs recently signed between DVC and NHPC and will become effective upon the commissioning of the respective SJVN projects. DVC currently supplies around 43 billion units annually, primarily catering to high-tension industrial consumers across its command area.
