ONGC Tripura Power Company Limited (OTPC), a subsidiary of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, and Assam Power Development Corporation Limited have announced a joint venture to develop a 250 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) in Assam.
The project aims to store solar power in the battery system during the day and distribute it through power substations during peak hours or at night, when solar generation is unavailable. The project will be implemented in a phased manner, marking the first such initiative in the northeastern region. The BESS is expected to enhance solar power utilisation and grid reliability in the region.
