Adani Group signs MoU with Bhutan’s DGPC to jointly develop 5,000 MW hydropower projects

Adani Group has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bhutan’s Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) to jointly develop 5,000 MW of hydropower projects in Bhutan.

This strategic collaboration builds on the ongoing partnership between the two entities for the 570/900 MW Wangchhu hydropower project, where DGPC holds a 51 per cent stake and Adani holds 49 per cent. The broader 5,000 MW initiative will include additional hydropower and pumped storage projects to be identified, planned, and implemented in phases. The initiative is aligned with Bhutan’s renewable energy roadmap to add 20,000 MW of generation capacity by 2040.
