China Railway Electrification Bureau International Engineering Company Limited has energised the new 22 kV high-voltage switchgear and distribution transformers for Singapore’s Sengkang-Punggol Depot Power Supply Reconstruction Project (810H Project).
This marks the first power supply activation by a Chinese enterprise in Singapore’s rail transit sector. The Sengkang-Punggol Light Rail, which connects 28 stations, is a critical part of Singapore’s urban transport network and serves high daily ridership. The depot upgrade includes an “air stacking” design constructed above the existing Northeast Line depot and features two new traction substations located at Rumbia and Damai stations. The enhancement is designed to improve traction power capacity to accommodate 36 double-unit trains, thereby ensuring safer and more efficient service. The project team implemented modular construction, digital debugging, and precise installation methods to meet complex technical and safety requirements.
