Laos’ regional wind farm set to launch by late 2025

The Government of Laos is preparing to inaugurate the Monsoon wind power project by the end of 2025.

The USD930 million project features 133 fully installed turbines spread over 68,000 hectares across Dakcheung district in Xekong province and Sanxay district in Attapeu province, covering multiple provinces for the first time. The wind farm will generate 600 MW of clean energy, which will be exported to Vietnam under a 25-year power purchase agreement with Vietnam Electricity (EVN). Power transmission will use a 500 kV line. The project is operated by Monsoon Wind Power Company Limited, a joint venture that includes ACEN, the Ayala Group’s renewable energy platform, which holds a 25 per cent stake. The turbines, standing 110 to 140 meters tall, are strategically positioned based on eight years of wind data.
