CESC Limited has launched a Rs 2.26 billion power infrastructure upgrade project in Kodagu, Karnataka.
The initiative aims to address long-standing power reliability issues by repairing 536 km of distribution lines and strengthening the network across challenging forested and hilly terrain.
The project is being implemented across five subdivisions; Madikeri (Rs 0.49 billion), Kushalnagar (Rs 0.40 billion), Somwarpet (Rs 0.40 billion), Gonikoppa (Rs 0.56 billion) and Virajpet (Rs 0.41 billion). The Virajpet and Madikeri constituencies have been allocated Rs 1.20 billion and Rs 1.06 billion. The upgrade includes the installation of covered conductors, transformers, and associated equipment to tackle voltage fluctuations and outage issues, particularly in remote areas such as Shanthalli, Bhagamandala, and Ammatthi. The completion of project is targeted by January–February 2026.
