Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited (BSPGCL) has announced the auction results for 125 MW/500 MWh of standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) to be developed across the state.
A total capacity of 125 MW has been awarded across six developers. Barbrik Projects secured 37.5 MW/150 MWh, Prostarm Info Systems won 30 MW/120 MWh, Hindustan Thermal Project secured 30 MW/120 MWh, Suryam International won 10 MW/40 MWh, Kundan Green Energy secured 10 MW/40 MWh, and Saatvik Green Energy won 7.5 MW/30 MWh. All capacities were awarded at a uniform tariff of Rs 444,000 per MW per month. The tender was issued in March 2025 and allowed a minimum bid size of 5 MW/20 MWh and a maximum of 125 MW/500 MWh. Developers will receive viability gap funding support of Rs 2.7 million per MWh or 30 per cent of the capital cost, whichever is lower. The projects are to be connected to the grid at a minimum of 33 kV and made available to the state transmission utility on an on-demand basis, with dispatch coordinated by the state load despatch centre in consultation with the discoms.
