The Ministry of Coal (MoC) is set to launch a new exploration module on the single window clearance system (SWCS) portal.
This is developed in collaboration with Central Mine Planning and Design Institute Limited. The module will enable coal block allottees to submit exploration proposals online, including vetting of schemes, periodic updates, and final geological reports. It allows end-to-end processing and approvals through a single digital interface with real-time tracking, structured timelines, automated document management, and dashboard-based monitoring. The exploration module is designed to improve transparency and reduce turnaround time. It complements existing modules on the SWCS platform, including mining plan, mine opening permission and Project Information Management System, which will streamline approvals from multiple central and state agencies. The SWCS portal has processed 126 mining plan proposals and 27 mine opening applications, with average clearance times reduced by more than 50 per cent.
