IEX reports 15 per cent rise in electricity traded volumes in first quarter of 2025-2026

The Indian Energy Exchange Limited (IEX) has reported a total electricity trade of 10,852 MUs in June 2025, registering a 6.5 percent from last year.

During the first quarter of 2025-26, the exchange achieved a cumulative volume of 32,382 MUs, marking a 15 percent growth over the corresponding period of the previous year. The real-time market (RTM) segment reported an increase by 34 per cent year-on-year to 4,312 MUs in June. For the quarter, RTM volumes stood at 12,975 MUs, up 41 percent from last year. Meanwhile, volumes in the day-ahead market (DAM), including high price DAM, declined by 5 per cent to 4,610 MUs in June. DAM volumes for the quarter stood at 12,399 MUs, down 7 per cent year-on-year. The exchange also reported a 30 per cent year-on-year increase in green market volumes, with 964 MUs traded in June 2025. In the first quarter, volumes in the green day ahead and green term ahead segments stood at 2,660 MUs, to a 51 percent increase. The weighted average price in the green day-ahead market was recorded at Rs 3.30 per unit.
