ACME Solar Holdings has signed battery energy storage purchase agreements (BESPAs) with NHPC Limited for two standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) projects totalling 275 MW/550 MWh.
The projects were awarded under NHPC’s June 2025 e-reverse auction at tariffs of Rs 2,10,000/MW/month for 50 MW/100 MWh and Rs 2,22,000/MW/month for 225 MW/450 MWh. They are eligible for viability gap funding of Rs 2.7 million per MWh or 30 per cent of the project cost, whichever is lower. The BESS installations will be located at customer sites in Andhra Pradesh, with land and evacuation infrastructure provided by the customer. The projects are expected to be commissioned within 18 months and will operate under a “BESS as a service” model, supporting grid stability and renewable energy integration.
