The Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) has amended the phased manufacturing programme (PMP) under the PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-Drive) scheme, with a focus on electric vehicle (EV) public charging stations.
As per the amended guidelines, domestic manufacturing timelines have been mandated for a wide range of components, starting with enclosures, wiring harnesses, and IS/IEC 60309 connectors from December 1, 2021 and auxiliary power systems, direct current (DC) meters and switchgear from June 1, 2022. The indigenisation requirement for DC charging guns and charger controllers is effective from June 1, 2024. The alternate current -DC converters must be domestically produced from December 1, 2025. Public charging stations must meet PMP norms as applicable on both the purchase order date and supply date of each lot.
