The Madhya Pradesh government has approved the renovation and modernisation (R&M) of the 115 MW Gandhi Sagar and 175 MW Rana Pratap Sagar hydroelectric plants operated by Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited.
The cabinet approved a revised cost of Rs 4.65 billion for the R&M of all five units (5×23 MW) of the Gandhi Sagar plant and Rs 5.78 billion for the four units (4×43 MW) of the Rana Pratap Sagar plant located in Rajasthan. Both projects will be jointly funded by the governments of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan in a 50:50 ratio, with Madhya Pradesh’s share set at Rs 1.27 billion.
