The Telangana government is set to implement reforms in the state’s energy sector, including the establishment of a new power distribution company to manage key welfare-linked electricity schemes. As per directions from the state government, the proposed discom will supply free power to agriculture, 200 units of free electricity for low-income households, and supply electricity to government schools and colleges. The reforms will also seek to reduce the debt burden on existing discoms and direct officials to promote solar power adoption across government offices, schools, and colleges in the state.
