MoC auctions seven coal blocks in 12th round of commercial mining

The Ministry of Coal (MoC) has auctioned seven coal blocks under the 12th round of commercial mining.

The auctioned mines include three fully explored and four partially explored blocks, with combined geological reserves of approximately 1,761.49 million tonnes. The peak rated capacity of the fully explored blocks stands at 5.25 million tonnes per annum. The blocks have been awarded to companies including Orissa Alloy Steel, Damodar Valley Corporation, TMC Mineral Resources, Mivaan Steels, Shakti Bhumi Mining, Alom Solar and Oriental Quarries and Mines.  These seven mines are expected to generate an annual revenue of Rs 7.20 billion and draw capital investment of Rs 7.87 billion. With this, MoC has successfully auctioned a total of 131 coal blocks since the introduction of commercial coal mining in 2020.
