Adani Power Limited has received a letter of intent (LoI) from Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited to develop a 2,400 MW greenfield ultra supercritical thermal power project at Pirpainti in Bhagalpur district of Bihar.
Under the competitive tender, Adani Power emerged as the lowest bidder with a tariff of Rs 6.075 per unit. The project will be developed on a design, build, finance, own and operate basis and will involve an investment of approximately USD3 billion. Power supply will commence from a 3×800 MW ultra-supercritical plant, with 2,274 MW of net capacity contracted to North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited. The first unit is expected to be commissioned within 48 months of the appointed date, and the last within 60 months.
