Blueleaf Energy and Chemsain Sustainability Sdn Bhd (Chemsain) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore the development of up to 3,000 MW of solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Sarawak, Malaysia.
The agreement sets a framework for cooperation in areas such as site and grid access, permitting, technical development, and community engagement. Project opportunities will reportedly be assessed over a two-year period, utilising only proven technologies like solar photovoltaic and BESS. Furthermore, the collaboration seeks to support Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap and Sarawak’s post covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030. It combines Blueleaf’s experience in renewable energy development and financing with Chemsain’s local expertise in regulatory processes and sustainability frameworks.
