Tata Power has signed an MoU with the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) to undertake a large-scale Miyawaki afforestation initiative in the catchment area of its Mulshi hydro generating stations in Maharashtra. The project will be implemented in three phases over five years, covering 47 acres across the Adgaon and Barpe villages. A total of 270,000 saplings from 54 native species will be planted using the Miyawaki method to restore biodiversity, enhance groundwater recharge and reduce siltation in the hydro catchment region. Under the partnership, Tata Power will provide land and technical inputs on species selection, while BNHS will manage plantation, monitoring and ecological management.
