Tata Power-led Odisha distribution companies have launched a one-kilowatt (kW) rooftop solar scheme under the utility led aggregation model as part of the central government’s PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
Under the scheme, eligible households can install a 1 kW rooftop solar system by paying a one-time amount of Rs 5,000, compared to the typical cost of Rs 65,000–75,000. The remaining amount is covered through subsidies of Rs 30,000 from the central government and Rs 25,000 from the state government, aggregated and facilitated by the discoms. The Odisha discoms will oversee installation, quality assurance, and after-sales service, offering a five-year warranty on components and a 25-year warranty on panels. Net meters will be provided at no additional cost, while consumers will bear the cost of the generation meter.
