Singapore has commissioned feasibility study on advanced nuclear technologies including small modular reactors (SMRs). The study will assess advanced nuclear options such as SMRs based on safety features, technology maturity and commercial readiness. The government clarified that no decision has been made regarding nuclear deployment but emphasised the importance of building domestic capabilities and engaging experts to better understand the role of nuclear energy in Singapore’s future energy mix. Any potential adoption will be evaluated against national priorities of safety, reliability, affordability and sustainability.
