Adani Power Limited and Bhutan’s state-owned Druk Green Power Corporation Limited have signed an agreement for 570 MW hydro project in Bhutan to jointly develop the Wangchhu hydroelectric project.
Adani Power and Druk Green will incorporate a public company in Bhutan with a 49:51 shareholding structure to implement the project. The Wangchhu hydroelectric plant will see an investment of about Rs 60 billion and will enhance regional clean energy capacity. With the detailed project report finalised, construction work is scheduled to commence in the first half of 2026. The project is expected to be completed within five years of the groundbreaking.
