Philippines’ GEA-4 auction secures 9.42 GW of renewables

The Philippines’ 4th Green Energy Auction (GEA-4) has secured a 9,432.6 MW of renewable energy commitments against the Department of Energy’s (DOE) target of 10,650 MW.

This reflects an 88 per cent subscription rate across solar, wind, and integrated solar with energy storage systems. According to DOE’s preliminary results, 111 winning bids covered ground-mounted, rooftop, and floating solar, as well as onshore wind and storage. The projects are scheduled to begin commercial operations between 2026 and 2029 and will support the country’s renewable energy goals of 35 per cent share by 2030, 50 per cent by 2040, and more than 50 per cent by 2050.
