The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has issued a directive requiring all generating stations owned by special purpose vehicles (SPVs) to declare the units identified for captive use in the financial year 2025-26.
The SPV-owned generating stations seeking captive status verification must officially intimate the identified captive units to the verifying authority, the concerned distribution licensee and the relevant regional or state load despatch centre. The prescribed format mandates disclosure of the generating station’s name, address, installed capacity, connection details and the specific units and their capacities earmarked for captive consumption. The directive further states that authenticated generation data for the declared units must be submitted as part of the verification process.
