Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) power transmission and distribution business has secured orders in India and overseas for grid infrastructure projects, focusing on grid stability, smart distribution and dynamic reactive power compensation.
In India, L&T has been awarded a contract for revamping power distribution systems in two towns. The scope includes the deployment of distribution supervisory control and data analytics (SCADA) systems, integration of smart technologies, establishment of distribution transformer stations and conversion of overhead lines into underground cabling networks. Internationally, L&T will design, supply, and construct two ±300 MVAr static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) systems in the United Arab Emirates. These systems will be deployed at existing 400 kV substations to provide dynamic reactive power compensation, enabling real-time voltage stabilisation and power quality enhancement. Additionally, L&T has secured an order in Oman for the development of a 400/132 kV grid station, including a segment of 400 kV transmission line.
