Reportedly, the Telangana government is planning to establish a new power distribution company (discom), from the existing Northern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited and Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited.
The aim is to cater electricity supply needs in the agriculture sector, lift irrigation projects and drinking water supply across the state and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits.
In parallel, the state government is pushing forward the underground power cabling project in Hyderabad.
