SGCC approves 750 kV Weizhou transmission project in Ningxia

State Grid Ningxia Electric Power Company Limited, a subsidiary of State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), has secured approval for the 750 kV Weizhou transmission and transformation project in Tongxin county, Wuzhong city, Ningxia.

The project involves the construction of a new 750 kV Weizhou substation equipped with three 2,100 MVA main transformers and three outgoing 750 kV bays to connect with the Miaoling substation. The Miaoling substation will be expanded with four additional 750 kV line bays, three for the Weizhou interconnection and one for the Huangmiao I line, with an existing bay being reconfigured as standby. The associated transmission works comprise three new 750 kV overhead transmission lines between Weizhou and Miaoling, totalling 117.6 km. This includes 112.6 km of single-circuit and 5 km of double-circuit lines on shared towers. Additionally, a 0.5 km stretch of the Miaoling–Huanghe I line will be rebuilt, while 0.4 km of the existing line will be dismantled. The project will also incorporate reactive power compensation systems, secondary systems, and communication infrastructure to support large-scale renewable energy integration in the region.
