Vietnam Electricity National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), a subsidiary of state-owned utility EVN, has signed a state investment credit contract worth VND715 billion with the Vietnam Development Bank for the development of the 220 kV Than Uyen–500 kV Lao Cai transmission line.
The project involves the construction of a 73.5 km double-circuit (D/C) 220 kV transmission line from the 220 kV Than Uyen substation in Lai Chau province to the 500 kV Lao Cai substation. The alignment includes a 5.8 km section across Muong Than commune (Lai Chau) and a 67.7 km section spanning nine communes in Lao Cai province. EVNNPT is executing the project through its Northern Power Project Management Board, with Power Transmission Company 1 designated to operate the line upon completion.
