AMEA Power has commenced construction of solar panels for its 1,000 MW solar power project with an integrated 600 MWh battery energy storage system in Egypt’s Benban region, Aswan.
Once complete, it will be Africa’s largest integrated solar and storage facility. The project follows the signing of power purchase agreements with the Egyptian electricity transmission company in September 2024 and the receipt of a “golden license” in December 2024, by granting fast-track clearances.
