YTL Group has commenced work to power a 500 MW AI cloud data centre for NVIDIA in Johor, Malaysia, entirely through solar energy.

The project will rely on a 500 MW solar facility developed on 1,650 acres of repurposed palm oil land, avoiding deforestation and aligning with sustainable land use practices. The initiative was announced at the Asian Power Summit 2025 and is expected to be Southeast Asia’s largest integrated solar-powered digital infrastructure project. YTL views the project as a strategic convergence of clean energy and high-performance computing, supporting the region’s energy transition amid rising AI-related electricity demand.
