Adani Group to invest Rs 630 billion in power projects across Assam

Adani Group is planning to invest around Rs 630 billion in Assam’s power sector through two major projects.

Adani Power Limited will invest Rs 480 billion to develop a 3,200 MW thermal power plant, while Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) will invest Rs 150 billion in two pumped storage projects (PSPs) with a combined capacity of 2,700 MW. AGEL has received a letter of award for 500 MW of energy storage capacity, which will be catered from the PSPs. In addition, Adani Power Limited has emerged as the lowest bidder in a competitive tender, quoting a tariff of Rs 6.30 per kWh for the upcoming ultra supercritical thermal power project in Assam. The plant will be developed under the design, build, finance, own and operate model, with coal linkage secured through the SHAKTI policy. The project is planned to be commissioned in phases starting December 2030. Adani Power Limited has obtained the necessary approvals from the Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission, while the power supply agreement with the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited is expected to be finalised shortly.
