Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has signed joint venture (JV) and shareholders’ agreements with the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to develop two cross-border 400 kV double-circuit transmission lines: Inaruwa–New Purnea and Lamki (Dododhara)–Bareilly.
The Indian JV will have POWERGRID holding 51 per cent equity and NEA 49 per cent, while the Nepal JV will be majority-owned by NEA. The ventures will implement high-capacity transmission corridors to strengthen bilateral electricity trade and regional grid stability.
