SP Group signs MoU with Univers to develop virtual power plant platform in Singapore

SP Group has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Univers to jointly develop and pilot a virtual power plant (VPP) platform in Singapore under the Energy Market Authority’s regulatory sandbox.

The initiative aims to aggregate and manage distributed energy assets across various sites, delivering grid services such as frequency regulation, contingency reserves, and energy optimisation.

The VPP will undergo deployment and integration testing in its initial phase, with plans for scalable national expansion in collaboration with key infrastructure and industrial partners. The project will also establish a framework for commercial rollout and market readiness. According to Univers, the collaboration is designed to enhance energy resilience and serve as a model for distributed energy integration across the ASEAN region.
