The Telangana government has approved the phased procurement of 3,000 MW of solar power over the next five years to meet the renewable consumption obligation (RCO) under the Telangana Clean and Green Energy Policy, 2025.
The process will be conducted through competitive bidding by the Telangana Green Power Procurement Coordination Committee. The initiative follows recommendations from Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation for phased procurement of 5,000 MW solar capacity to address a projected shortfall in meeting RCO targets, which require an additional 12,000 MW of renewable capacity by 2030. In the first tranche, the state will procure 3 GW across three phases 1,000 MW each by June 2026, December 2026, and June 2027.
