Siemens has launched the Siprotec 5 precision time protocol (PTP) grandmaster clocks by offering a breakthrough in resilient time synchronisation for digital substations. The new solution ensures uninterrupted operation of protection functions, even during time source transitions and enhances cybersecurity through an isolated network architecture. The patent-pending Seamless PTP changeover technology aligns backup and primary clocks to prevent time base jumps during switchover, ensuring the continuity of critical grid protection systems.
