South Korea has commissioned the 100 MW Hanlim offshore wind power complex in Jeju. The project is located in the offshore waters of Suwon-ri, Hallim-eup, Jeju. The project has been developed and is operated with investments from public power generation entities including Korea Electric Power Corporation, Korea Midland Power, and KEPCO Engineering and Construction. The offshore wind farm has been built using domestically manufactured turbines, substructures, and cables supporting the development of South Korea’s local offshore wind supply chain. In addition, three nearby villages formed a cooperative and invested USD20.4 million, securing a 4.7 per cent equity stake in the project.
