Egypt has commenced construction of the ATUM Solar integrated industrial complex in Sokhna, with total investments of about USD210 million. The complex will comprise three manufacturing facilities with annual capacities of 2 GW for solar cell production, 2 GW for solar module manufacturing, and 1 GWh for energy storage systems. Solar cell output will be fully export-oriented, while modules and storage systems will cater to domestic and regional markets. The project is being developed by a consortium including JA Solar of China, AH of Egypt, Global South Utilities of the UAE, and Infinity Capital of Bahrain.
