POWERGRID secures bid for 150 MW/300 MWh standalone BESS project in Andhra Pradesh

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has secured the bid under tariff-based competitive bidding for a standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Andhra Pradesh. POWERGRID has received the letter of award for setting up a 150 MW/300 MWh (2-hour) standalone BESS at the 400/220 kV substation in Kalikiri, Chittoor district. The project will be implemented under the build-own-operate model with viability gap funding support through the Power System Development Fund. The project forms part of the selection of battery energy storage developers for establishing a cumulative capacity of 2,000 MWh at selected substations of APTRANSCO for on-demand usage.
