GE Vernova commissions HA turbine at 1.6 GW LNG-fired power plant in Vietnam

GE Vernova has commissioned a HA-class gas turbine in Vietnam at the 1.6 GW Nhon trach 3 and 4 power plant.

The facility has entered commercial operation and is Vietnam’s first power plant fuelled by liquefied natural gas (LNG). The combined-cycle plant is located at Ong Keo Industrial Park in Dong Nai province and has been developed by PetroVietnam Power Corporation. It uses GE Vernova’s 9HA.02 gas turbine technology and has been built at an estimated investment of about USD 1.4 billion, with Samsung C&T and Lilama acting as engineering, procurement and construction contractors. The project comprises two generation blocks of over 800 MW each. The Nhon Trach 3 and 4 project is expected to enhance grid reliability in southern Vietnam while supporting greater integration of renewable energy.
