Philippines and UK sign LoI to support offshore wind and microgrid development

Philippines signed a letter of intent (LoI) with the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to strengthen cooperation on offshore wind and microgrid development.

The agreement formalises collaboration under the UK Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions Philippines Country Fund and establishes a framework for delivering three technical assistance projects in the energy sector. The first project will support the Philippine Department of Energy in developing an evaluation framework for offshore wind infrastructure plans submitted under the Green Energy Auction 5 programme. The second initiative will focus on developing a comprehensive data collection framework for priority microgrid sites to enhance institutional capacity for microgrid planning and support evidence-based decision-making. The third project will provide technical validation and peer review of the initial results of the marine spatial planning process and its associated tools for offshore wind development.
