Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has been declared the successful bidder under the tariff-based competitive bidding route for the establishment of an inter-state transmission system (ISTS) to support the integration of additional renewable energy capacity in Karnataka.
The project covers transmission system strengthening for renewable energy potential aggregating 3 GW, comprising 0.25 GW at Davanagere and 2.75 GW at Bellary and will be developed on a build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis. The scope of work includes the development of a 400 kV double-circuit transmission line traversing Karnataka, along with associated line bay works at both ends and augmentation works, including installation of inter-connecting transformers and line bays at the Davanagere and Bellary pooling stations. The project is aimed at facilitating large-scale renewable energy evacuation and strengthening the regional transmission network.
