Essar signs MoU to invest Rs 51 billion in bio-fuel project in Gujarat

Reportedly, Essar Future Energy Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat government to invest about Rs 51 billion to set up a large-scale bio-fuel complex in Devbhumi Dwarka district.

The MoU was signed at the Vibrant Gujarat regional conference held in Rajkot. Under the agreement, Essar Future Energy plans to establish a bio-fuel complex with an initial feedstock processing capacity of 1 million tonnes per annum. The project will be developed as a special economic zone unit and is expected to commence operations by 2029. The proposed facility will focus on supplying clean fuel solutions for hard-to-abate sectors such as aviation, shipping and road transport, supporting decarbonisation efforts while strengthening Gujarat’s bio-energy and clean fuels ecosystem.
