Scatec signs PPA for 1.95 GW solar-plus-storage project in Egypt

Scatec ASA has signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company for the development of a solar-plus-storage project in Egypt.

The agreement covers 1.95 GW of solar generation capacity along with 3.9 GWh of battery energy storage. The project will comprise one integrated solar and battery storage hybrid facility designed to deliver continuous renewable baseload power, in addition to two standalone battery energy storage systems to provide grid stability and ancillary services. The project will operate under a 25-year pay-as-produced PPA and is expected to generate around 6,000 GWh of renewable electricity annually. Scatec will act as the lead developer and be responsible for engineering, procurement and construction, as well as asset management and operations and maintenance.
