ADB extends USD 30 million in financing with solar-plus-storage project in Uzbekistan

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has extended financing for the development of a 300 MW solar power plant integrated with a 75 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Guzar City, Kashkadarya Region, Uzbekistan.

The USD 30 million project will be implemented by Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC (Masdar). Once operational, the solar-plus-storage facility is expected to generate about 634 GWh of electricity annually. The project also includes the construction of associated grid infrastructure, comprising 1.6 km of transmission lines and a 220 kV substation, to enable integration of renewable power into Uzbekistan’s national grid. The financing package will be administered by ADB and includes a USD 12.5 million loan from ADB, a USD 12.5 million loan from Leading Asia’s Private Infrastructure Fund 2 and a USD 5 million loan from the Canadian Climate and Nature Fund for the Private Sector in Asia.
