Hindalco Industries Limited has commissioned first battery-grade aluminium foil manufacturing facility in Odisha and has announced a major expansion of its aluminium smelting capacity in the state to strengthen domestic supply chains for electric vehicles and energy storage. The company commissioned a 170,000 tonne per annum flat rolled products facility and battery-grade aluminium foil developed with an investment of Rs 45 billion. The company also flagged an expansion of its aluminium smelter at the Aditya Aluminium complex in Sambalpur by 360,000 million tonne per annum with an outlay of Rs 210 billion.
