KETCO energises 132 kV Sondu to Homa Bay transmission line

Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETCO) has energised the 132 kV Sondu to Homa Bay transmission line a 100 km project in western Kenya.

The line is expected to improve power supply reliability in Homa Bay County and the wider South Nyanza region by reducing outages, improving voltage quality and providing an alternative power evacuation route. The development follows Kenya Electricity Transmission Company’s commissioning of the 400/220 kV Mariakani substation. The Mariakani facility is positioned as a key node linking Kenya’s coastal region to Nairobi and the national transmission grid, supporting improvements in electricity reliability along the coast.
