Reportedly, Tata Power Company Limited is examining potential sites in three states for future nuclear power projects but is awaiting further regulatory clarity before finalising its plans.
The company is evaluating smaller-sized reactors, including small modular reactors, and is in discussions with the Department of Atomic Energy and the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited, along with multiple technology partners including foreign firms. Detailed rules are still awaited on licensing conditions, fuel sourcing arrangements and approval processes. Tata Power has not finalised the planned capacity of the proposed plants.
